Your family farmers

 

 

In alphabetical order of their first name, here are the members of our worker's cooperative, your family farmers!

 

 

Calla Sonerson

 

  

 

Calla graduated with a degree in nutrition and worked in community nutrition, gardening and restaurants before coming to Tourne-Sol Farm in 2021.  She is now in charge of irrigation at the farm and she also does your flower arrangements! Calla has her own vegetable garden at home in her spare time, but she is also a master seamstress! She joined the coop as an auxilarry member in 2022. 



Camélia Ménard

 

 
 

Camelia is in charge of our seedling greenhouse. She loves reading, studied history and worked in a bookstore for a few years. In 2020 she decided to switch to agriculture and joined our team at Tourne-Sol Farm. Her hobbies include gardening and propagating dahlias and garlic! Her favorite vegetable is the hot pepper! She joined the cooperative as an auxiliary member in 2022. 


Daniel Brisebois

 

 

Daniel Brisebois
 
Dan coordinates the Tourne-Sol seed harvest and works with our network of seed growers to fill our online store with seeds for your gardens.

When he's not in the field Dan blogs about farm management and seed production; teaches farmers how to effectively plan and manage their farm at The Farmer Spreadsheet Academy; and hosts the Seed Growers Podcast.

Dan (and Fred) are also co-authors of the Crop Planning for Organic Vegetable Growers handbook.

 

 

Emily Board

 

 

Emily Board
 
Emily is the field manager for seed production at Tourne-Sol farm.  After spending 15 years as harvest manager for  the vegetable baskets, she now works growing seed for Tourne-Sol’s seed catalogue, for variety trials, and for selection work as part of the plant breeding activities on the farm.  Emily is excited to continue the work of stewarding the Tourne-Sol seed collection, and to making locally adapted seed available in the community.  

 

 

Frederic Theriault

 

 

Frederic Theriault
 
Fred is in charge of the administration of the farm in general and the management of the organic basket program. He also tries his best to stay involved in the field! He studied (BSc., MSc.) and taught agriculture at McGill and published with Dan the book “Crop Planning for Vegetable Growers”.
 
Frédéric enjoys playing music, dancing and getting involved in his community. He lives in Ste-Anne with his wife Dana and their 4 children.

Julien started at the coop in 2015 and became a member in 2020. He is now in charge of our seed warehouse. He worked in the restaurant business and loves good food and a good live music show.

 

Reid Allaway

 

 

Reid Allaway
 
Reid grew up in northern Ontario and studied agricultural and environmental science at McGill University before Tourne-Sol was born. Reid is the handyman on the farm and loves trying to figure out how and why things work. Agriculture is therefore an inexhaustible source of stimulation for him. Reid converted many of our machines to electric and spearheaded our Elec-truck conversion campaign!

 

Renee Primeau

 

 

Renee Primeau
Renée studied agriculture and environmental sciences at McGill University. At the Tourne-Sol farm, Renée is in charge of vegetable production, greenhouse sowing, organic certification, and plant protection. She has two beautiful children, Phoebe and Elliot, with her husband, Reid.

 

 

Sophie Descoteaux

 

 

Sophie Descoteaux
 
Sophie started at Tourne-Sol in 2013 and became a member in 2019. She works in the seed department and handles graphics, customer service and sales for our seed displays. Sophie has always had a passion for music and she released her third album in November 2019.
